In this role, you will:
- Actively nurture relationships with some of the largest and most exciting businesses operating in Africa, gaining a detailed understanding of their business, flow of funds, and future endeavours.
- Initiate high-level, interactive business conversations with key decision-makers and stakeholders within the AM network to grow Verto’s volumes.
- Lead our global team of Account Managers, setting, communicating, and monitoring performance expectations.
- Proactively identify the challenges to Verto’s growth and expansion of existing clients and develop/propose solutions that establish mutual benefit.
You’ll be responsible for:
Leadership and Strategy
- Develop and implement the strategic vision for Account Management.
- Lead, mentor, motivate, and hire a high-performing team of Account Managers.
- Set clear objectives, performance goals, and key metrics for the team.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align Account Management with overall business goals.
Account Management
- Oversee the management of our customers, ensuring exceptional service and satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for account growth and implement strategies to achieve revenue targets.
- Act as the primary point of contact for major account issues and work to resolve them efficiently.
Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute plans to increase account penetration and expand the company’s footprint within existing accounts.
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify potential threats and opportunities.
Customer Advocacy
- Advocate for customers to ensure their needs are met.
- Collect and analyse customer feedback to drive continuous improvement in products and services.
- Organise regular business reviews with key accounts to discuss performance and future plans.
Operational Excellence
- Implement best practices in account management processes and tools.
- Monitor and report on account performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Ensure accurate and timely forecasting and reporting of account activities.
Skills and Qualifications
- 7+ years of B2B business development in financial services, preferably in payments.
- Mastery of account management and sales skills, including creating interest at all levels of the organisation and developing strategic business solutions for customers.
- Ability to process information and incorporate feedback into an interactive business conversation.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to be hands-on and translate vision into actionable plans.
- Notable experience in implementing clear processes within an Account Management function that has delivered results.
- Ability to integrate knowledge across disciplines (e.g., marketing, operations) and function in an unstructured environment with minimal day-to-day supervision.
